Mind Over Matter

Mind Over Matter was performed at Birmingham International Festival for Live and Time Based Art in September 2007 following an inaugural performance by Dr Roland C. Miller. This entry acknowledges the conundrum Miller identifies between the act of documentation defeating the value of live performance, and the problem of non-documentation in the context of self-advancement.

No further documentation of that particular performance of Mind Over Matter will be given.

“Performance cannot be saved, recorded, documented, or otherwise participate in the circulation of representations of representations: once it does so it becomes something other than performance. To the degree that performance attempts to enter the economy of reproduction it betrays and lessens the promise of its own ontology. Performance’s being, … becomes itself through disappearance.”
